I was born and raised on a dairy farm at Te Aroha, in the Thames Valley. Following Te Aroha College I went on to complete a Bachelor of Agricultural Commerce at Lincoln University, majoring in valuation and farm management.
I started my career as a rural manager for the Rural Bank and subsequently the National Bank in Tauranga, Matamata and Morrinsville. During this time I also managed and expanded our family farming operation. More than once I arrived in a suit and tie at a farmer’s table with green stuff still on my elbows!
In 2002 I packed up my gumboots, tooth brush, sleeping bag and guitar and headed to Brazil to be general manager of operations for a large scale dairy development. Early in the piece I met and married Nicole. After an incredible, rewarding 8 years establishing an intensive tropical pastoral dairy farm, (arguably one of the most intensive pastoral systems in the world), we returned to New Zealand with our four children to settle in Waihi.
I enjoy working with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds to help create stable, competent teams.
I look forward to helping develop and mentor people to better understand their business and become more proficient at attaining their goals.
My strong practical farming and financial experience gives me the capacity to accurately analyse where a farming business is at and then arrive at workable, creative solutions to complex situations.
Outside of work I enjoy farming, all manner of sport, music and drama as well as supporting my family in their various endeavours
